File - GL Interface

Use this option to maintain the GL Interface master file for MJC. You only need to setup this file if you want MJC fully integrated to your Micronet General Ledger.

The individual records in the GL Interface master file are also known as "GL interface records" or "integration tables". They are used by Micronet to automatically transfer the data for Work in Progress (WIP), Cost of Sales, labour/material transfers and job sales to the Micronet General Ledger system (MGL).

GL interface records create accounting journal entries (financial transactions) for every procedure within MJC, transferring those amounts in the format prescribed by the Chart of Accounts. Basically, MJC interface records contain a series of GL account numbers for each procedure conducted in MJC.

Each department in MJC must be have a GL interface record assigned to it (refer to "File - Department"). For simple reporting (i.e. no dissection by department), this can be the same GL interface record. The default interface record is called TOTAL. If you want reports dissected by department, you must setup a separate GL interface record for each department.

Technical Tip

  • For more information about setting up integration between MJC and MGL, refer to "Configuring MJC Integration".
  • Before setting up your GL Interface master file, you must have established your General Ledger Chart of Accounts - refer to "File - GL Accounts".

The actual process of posting the GL interface information to your General Ledger is performed in MDS using the End of Day process. For more information, refer to "End of Period - End of Day".
